Do you know a name dropper? There's always a story about some famous person they've met. It's interesting to talk to a name dropper. Don't you ever wonder how you reached the age you are without having met a single celebrity, yet they seem to have spent time with ALL of them? Do you ever wonder if it goes both ways? I mean, if you asked all those famous people if they know your friend, what would they say? Hmm... Makes you stop and think, doesn't it? Well, I'm a name dropper of sorts. I can say with total honesty that I've met someone famous. I've actually spent time with the guy. He really IS a celebrity. More books have been written about him than anyone else, ever! I'm not kidding. Everyone even knows his birthday. It's coming up pretty soon. I can introduce you to him. He'll be happy to tell you that he knows me. And, as a matter of fact, he'll be thrilled to meet you. Come out to Central Carolina Technical College on Sunday morning at 10:30. Grab a cup of coffee and go on into the auditorium. Ask one of the people there to introduce you to Jesus. Then you can be a name dropper, too!... (read and comment on this post)

Do you remember the drive-in movies? The big screen, the food, talking and visiting with everyone there. Ah...the good old days! Tomorrow night is the next best thing. It's movie night in Manning! We'll have the big screen, the food, talking and visiting with everyone there. Everything but the car exhaust! Come out to the Fleming farm around 6pm; it's going to be fun! Bring a blanket and/or a chair as well as a snack to share. 'we're going to show a movie on the side of the barn. That's so cooll! If you're not sure how to get there, here are some directions. Just read through and pick up where it applies to you.
From I-95, get off at exit 119. Take Hwy 261 straight through Manning toward Greeleyville. When 261 and 521 split, stay on 261 to the left, over the bridge toward Kingstree. Turn right on Paddock, the second paved road on the right. Then turn right onto Coskrey; it's a dirt road. We'll be at the second building on the left.
Hope to see you there!

No more procrastinating! Time's up! This Sunday is Newcomer's class and it's your turn to come! I know, you've been waiting for the right time. You're still deciding whether or not this whole Seacoast thing is really for you. I have great news. You don't have to marry us, we'd just like to take you on a lunch date! Actually, Newcomer's class is a great way to make some of those decisions you've been working on. You can learn a little more about Seacoast. You can find out where you might like to volunteer. You'll get to meet some of the staff. It's a win - win deal all the way around. And since we asked you out, we'll cover your lunch! Be nice and don't stand us up; we're looking forward to it!... Ordinarily I agree with that statement. But when The Book comes to life in 2009, it's definitely a toss up! Like Sunday afternoon in Manning. We had baptism just exactly like they did in the book of John. We went down to the lake, gathered on the shore, and celebrated while people walked out in the water and declared to the world that they are Christ followers. I know that Jesus must have felt a sense of deja vu while he looked on. A single mom, a biker gal, a grandmother/cancer survivor, a dad and his daughter. Just ordinary people doing something extraordinary - not caring what anyone but Jesus thinks. And then? Well Jim, our pastor, started to come up out of the water and said, "We've got the water. Does anyone else want to be baptized?" Oh my! The lady whose hand shot up as she walked toward him isn't just anyone. We started praying for her months ago after a motorcycle accident. A horrible motorcycle accident. She, the living, breathing, smiling answer to our prayers, stopped long enough to take off her knee brace. Then she too followed Jesus' example and took a stand. That just blows my mind! So yeah, this particular Book is a little different from all the others. There's nothing like watching it come to life. Well unless you're the one whose life it's coming to life in!

Chills, fever, runny nose, sore throat, coughing, congestion... It's not a commercial for the newest, over the counter remedy. It's the real life description of my life last Sunday morning! I woke up feeling terrible, and my first thought was, "Oh no! I'll miss church!" I LOVE Seacoast Manning. The people, the music, the sermon, the coffee, all of it. I've got to tell you; now there's another reason to love my church. There's flu seating! I did stay home, but I also went to church. Right here at my computer. The Internet campus has services at 9:30 and 11:15 every Sunday morning. It's the most amazing thing! I got there early and chatted in the lobby. I got my coffee and settled in when I saw the 5 minute countdown on the screen. I loved the music, as always. I heard a relevant message and went to the cross. After the service was over, I said goodbye. I knew about the Internet campus, but I never got a chance to attend. They have everything any other Seacoast campus offers. You can put things on the cross and actually see them there. You can light a candle, or pray with someone. I'm glad to be feeling better and can't wait to return to Seacoast Manning this Sunday. But I enjoyed visiting another campus and knowing that, even if I'm contagious, there's a great place to go to church!
