Sunday, September 8th, 2013 · 4:00pm
Our next baptism will be held Sunday, September 8th at the Isle of Palms County Park at 4:00pm. If you’d like to sign up in advance, please click here. If you can’t pre-register, don’t worry, you can always sign up that day – this just saves you a step (we do suggest arriving 15-30 minutes early if you do not pre-register).
We will provide you with t-shirt that is yours to keep as a gift. We suggest wearing a swimsuit and bringing your loved ones, a camera, a towel, and flip flops. If you have any questions, please contact Jen Arel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And now, why delay? Get up and be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on the name of the Lord.
ACTS 22:16 (NLT)
What is the Purpose of Baptism?
Baptism is a public pronouncement of a personal relationship with Jesus. It’s a reflection of the fact that a change has taken place in your heart and life. While baptism itself doesn’t transform or “save” you, it communicates that you have given your life to Jesus and it isn’t yours anymore.
In front of a crowd of people, Jesus was submerged into a river by his cousin, John. Later, the first Christians were baptized soon after dedicating their lives to following Him. They were immersed in water, symbolizing the end of their old lives, and emerged to begin their new lives as followers of Jesus. Following the same example, Seacoast baptizes through water submersion.
Who should be baptized?
All those who have committed themselves to Jesus Christ as their Lord, by turning away from sin and trusting in Him, should be baptized. For this reason, we do not baptize babies or children who are too young to make this decision on their own.
We offer baby dedication monthly. This is an opportunity for you to commit or promise to the Lord to raise your child with Jesus as the focus of the family. We will post more information about the next opportunity here on the City or you can email Jennifer at email@example.com.
If you have children who are ready to accept Christ and want to be baptized, we recommend they go through our “For Heaven’s Sake” class first. Join their group HERE on the City to begin the course. We also have a special family baptism, designed specifically for kids! For information on the next one, please contact Meleah at firstname.lastname@example.org.
