God’s Power Revealed Through Stories at Chosen Conference

Too often, inspiring stories of women living dangerously for God are shared only with a few friends and family. At the 2018 Chosen Women’s Conference at Seacoast Church, we saw God move to change that. Several brave women shared their personal stories of confronting their pasts, fighting for what they believe in, and finding their purpose. Their stories, told in the debut of the Sisterhood Magazine, encouraged many more women to tell their stories.

“God’s power is made known in our stories.” -Lisa Surratt

One woman was moved to tell her redemptive story to founding pastor, Greg Surratt, and later he asked her to join him on stage to share it with the 1,400 women attending Chosen in person plus hundreds more online. She is now leading other women toward healing at the Seacoast Church North Charleston Campus.

Chosen speaker, Mo Isom, encouraged women to stop and assess their hearts, so God can activate them for His kingdom.

Along with powerful, spirit-filled worship, the conference, appropriately themed “Dangerous”, brought together a dynamic lineup of three speakers: Charlotte Gambill, Pastor of LIFE Church, UK;  Mo Isom, author of Sex, Jesus and the Conversations the Church Forgot; and Jeremy Foster, Pastor of Hope City Church in Houston, Texas. Each speaker uniquely encouraged women to turn from their past, and be open to God defining their future. Mo Isom declared, “He will not ask what we did, he will ask who we have become.”

Hundreds of attendees rallied together to fill 5,000 Hope Kits to provide Hope For Her.

Mo Isom also hosted a 7 in 7 breakout session to give application to the teachings. Seven women who are living on mission in their communities, were given seven minutes to describe their organization and how they serve women in difficult circumstances. Then everyone was encouraged to fill a combined 5,000 Hope Kits with personal care items. These kits are a stepping stone to bringing hope to discouraged women around the world.

The impact of this year’s conference grew to thousands of women, not only those who attended physically, but those who will be touched by the stories that continue to be shared.
