VBS Day 2 Recap

Bible Story: Esther • The Book of Esther

Memory Verse: “I have come so they may have life. I want them to have it in the fullest possible way.” John 10:10b, NIrV

Bottom Line: Live like God has a plan for you.

Hey Parents!

We are having a BLAST at AMPED, seeing what God says about how we can live fully alive! We totally saw that happen with the person we learned about today, Esther.

Esther risked everything to go before the king. But she trusted in God and was confident that he would take care of her. That’s exactly what God did! God used Esther’s courage and her role as queen to save his people. Let’s take another look at our Bottom Line for today. Live like God has a plan for you.

Remember Esther’s cousin Mordecai? He reminded her that God had a huge plan for her life. God has a plan for your life, too!  When we live like God has a plan, we start to see moments with friends and family as opportunities to do something big for God.

You might not know God’s plan for your life. And you know what? That’s okay! But know this: God is always working and creating a way for you to live fully alive!

FAMILY DEVO

Read Jeremiah 29:11 (NIrV) -“I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come.”

“God, I don’t understand . . .”

Have you ever started a prayer that way?

You can be honest with God. And honestly, there are things that happen in life that we just can’t understand. We know God has a plan. But it’s his plan, not ours. And we can only see the part that’s right in front of us.

Esther went through a lot in her life. We can read the whole saga and see how God had a big plan all along—to give her the strength and courage she needed to save her people. But at any point along the way, it would have been tough for her to imagine the ending.

Talking to God . . . asking him questions . . . that actually shows a lot of faith. It shows that you want to live like God has a plan for you. (And he totally does!)

Maybe you’re in one of those moments when you can’t see his plan. You just can’t understand what he’s up to. Talk to him. Tell him how you feel. He can take it . . . and he loves to hear from you! How can you live like God has a plan for you?

It’s hard to imagine what it must have been like for Queen Esther all those years ago. She didn’t choose to be queen, and she certainly didn’t sign up to defend her people against Haman’s evil plot. But God had chosen her—it was all part of the plan he had for her life. And because of that, Esther was able to stand up with courage to the king and save her people.

Just like Esther, God has a plan for you. God’s plan for you is bigger and better than anything you could ever dream up on your own, because God made you and he loves you. Your job right now is to start praying that God would show you his plan for you so that you can follow it. So, what should you pray? Here’s an idea:

AMPED PRAYER: “Dear God, I know You love me. I believe your plan is better than my plan. Help me to see what you want me to do — because I believe you have a plan for me, and I don’t want to miss it.”

You can put this prayer in your own words. But start praying it right now and live like God has a plan for you.

GET AMPED UP AT HOME: MORNING TIME

Take 60 seconds and write down your plans for the day. Then go back and circle the things that you might be nervous about or know you need God’s help to accomplish. Place the list somewhere you’ll see throughout the day. As you check off each thing on your plan, thank God for the plan that HE has for you and your life!
