In 2015, Tina and Analyn were strangers when they arrived at Seacoast’s Summerville Campus. Tina brought her granddaughter to Kids Camp, and Analyn brought her two step-children. After they registered the kids, they each decided to serve during Kids Camp, and the two landed as leaders of the same group.
Over the following four days of Kids Camp, the women and their group of nine kids, joined together in worship, heard God’s Word, made crafts, and played fun games. But it was the local missions opportunity that brought the two women closer together.
That year, Kids Camp chose Lowcountry Food Bank as its local partner to support. So Tina and Analyn brought food donations and encouraged the kids to participate, too, showing them that everyone can make a difference.
By the end of Kids Camp, the two women had become fast friends—soon discovering they even lived in the same neighborhood. Since then, they have helped each other through some of life’s hardest moments. Five years into their friendship, Analyn tragically lost her husband in an accident. Tina quickly rallied their community to support Analyn as she was grieving, by bringing meals and providing ongoing care and love.
The two women continue to serve together as Kids Camp small groups leaders each year, and Tina’s granddaughter, Kayleigh, who is now a high school student, serves as a Kids Camp worship leader.
Many Seacoast campuses offer opportunities to serve at Kids Camp and in Kidscoast, but serving is not what we want from you, it’s what we want for you. You may just find yourself surrounded with new friendships and new purpose, while making a difference for the next generation.
